Unlike most financial advisers, James worked in a law firm that specialised in equity release products before transitioning into the provision of financial advice. James progressed through the ranks gaining employee of the month and employee of the year awards for his dedication, exceptional knowledge, and customer service. Throughout his career he watched his clients’ standard of living improve greatly, thanks to the various equity release products available.

Expanding on the legal knowledge that James gained throughout his career, he became a fully qualified financial adviser in August 2017 specialising in equity release products. Being legally (as well as financially) trained, James can provide support to clients throughout the entire equity release process and can help deal with complex legal issues that arise surrounding lifetime mortgages and the impact that conveyancing issues may have on lifetime mortgages. James also offers a full estate planning service through Countrywide Trust and Tax Corporation, therefore can carry out a full range of IHT mitigation, estate planning and conveyancing options himself. He does choose not to carry out any IHT advice or mitigation when acting for a client for their equity release purposes, and refers all such IHT mitigation services elsewhere.

Registered with the Equity Release Council, James also provides high level advice on various working groups, including the conduct forum and competency framework group, to help raise the standards required of financial and legal advisers throughout the industry.

Offering face to face independent equity release advice, James will recommend the right equity release plan for you and will only charge a fee on completion of any business you do. He will only recommend an equity release product to you if it is suitable, and customer satisfaction is his primary concern. He treats each client as if they are his own family!

After relocating from Bristol to a farm in North Wales, James joined The Equity Release Experts to help raise the profile of Equity Release products within the mainstream residential lending sector, and help people in their later years achieve their dreams and aspirations. In the few hours that he is not working for his clients, you can find James stripping down, repairing and riding his motorbike collection around North Wales. You may meet him hiking through Snowdonia, but you are more likely to see him in his man cave brewing elderflower champagne and ginger beer. James lives on a working farm near the quaint village of Llanrwst in Conwy Wales (where his office and shop is situated), with his partner Sarah, two children, two rabbits, a hamster and a dog. However, this does not stop him travelling all over the UK to see friends & family and to help his equity release clients.
